Toronto MP Chrystia Freeland has been appointed as an economic adviser to Ukraine by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who praised her expertise in investment attraction and economic transformation. Freeland’s role will focus on strengthening Ukraine’s internal resilience amid ongoing conflict. Although she is set to become the CEO of Rhodes Trust in the U.K. this July, she will work with Ukrainian officials and liaise with Canadian stakeholders on a freelance basis. Freeland is of Ukrainian descent and has a history of advocacy for Ukraine against Russian aggression.
