Hundreds of children’s shoes were displayed at the Manitoba Legislature during a solemn event on Thursday to honor the lives of children killed in Ukraine since the Russian invasion. Ukrainian mother Oksana Khuytsia emphasized the pain felt by parents as they remembered the victims, while organizer Mila Shykota highlighted the importance of keeping their memories alive. The memorial coincided with World Children’s Day and aimed to raise awareness of the consequences of Russia’s aggression. According to the UN, at least 669 children have died in the conflict, with many more likely unaccounted for.
