Astrid Göth, a 13-year-old hockey player from Sweden, relocated to Montreal three years ago, using hockey to adapt to her new environment despite language barriers and hearing loss. Many young girls, especially around age 14, tend to quit sports; however, the PWHL has initiated a mentorship program to counter this trend, pairing players like Göth with PWHL athletes for guidance and support. This initiative aims to foster belonging and resilience in young female athletes. Göth’s mother applied for the program, recognizing its potential impact on her daughter’s challenges in sports.
