Canada’s recent $151 million contribution to the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) reflects the country’s ongoing leadership in the fight against polio, with a cumulative contribution of over $1 billion to date. Milestones such as the WHO’s certification of regions as wild poliovirus free demonstrate the effectiveness of large-scale immunization campaigns led by Rotary and its partners. Despite significant progress, challenges such as conflict and climate disasters continue to hinder efforts to eradicate polio globally.
