Doug Ford doesn’t support death penalty, made ‘poor-taste joke’: PCs

Ontario PC Leader Doug Ford reportedly joked about bringing back the death penalty during a campaign speech at a police chief gala in London, Ont., suggesting judges should “send ’em right to sparky.” The PC Party spokesperson clarified that Ford does not support capital punishment but believes in keeping violent offenders behind bars. Ford’s comments were made out of frustration with the justice system, with sparse clapping and gasps from the audience, as Ontario heads to the polls on Feb. 27.
