An SPCA worker, Carmen Torrance, was injured while attempting to retrieve animals released by a man opposed to their confinement during a night raid in February. The incident resulted in all animals being freed, leading to injuries and emergency vet visits as many animals overate and mixed with unsterilized pets, raising public safety concerns due to a potentially dangerous dog on the loose.
