Eleven Arrested in France Following Death of Activist

Eleven individuals, including an aide to far-left MP Raphael Arnault, have been arrested in France following the murder of far-right activist Quentin Deranque, who was beaten outside a conference in Lyon. The incident has prompted a murder investigation, with the Lyon prosecutors’ office detaining suspects, as the hard-left party France Unbowed (LFI) condemned the violence. Tensions between the hard left and hard right are escalating ahead of upcoming local elections, with accusations exchanged between party leaders. LFI’s national coordinator stated the party bears no responsibility for the death and feels threatened amid rising polarization.
