A report by the Military Police Complaints Commission (MPCC) has revealed significant flaws in the investigation of Maj. Gen. Dany Fortin, who was charged with sexual assault in 2021 but acquitted in December 2022. The investigation was criticized for “tunnel vision,” bias, and inadequate oversight, raising concerns about public trust in military policing. Fortin, who claimed the charge damaged his career, filed a lawsuit against several high-ranking officials and received an undisclosed settlement before leaving the military in July 2023. The MPCC concluded there was no external influence on the case, despite Fortin’s allegations.
