Windsor puts Amherstburg on notice to end policing contract

Amherstburg is seeking a new police service after ending its contract with Windsor Police Service, with Mayor Michael Prue expressing disappointment over the decision. The town council will explore options in a closed session meeting, following Windsor’s four years notice of the change due to financial concerns and the inability to provide the desired service under the current contract. The initial agreement, signed in 2019 for 20 years, aimed to save the town money, but after six years, Windsor found it challenging to break even financially.
