On Sunday, a fire at Van Isle Marina in Sidney, B.C., resulted in the sinking of three yachts, measuring 65 to 70 feet, after firefighters responded to reports of a large blaze around 7:30 a.m. PT. Fortunately, no injuries occurred, as no one was aboard the boats at the time. The Coast Guard is overseeing pollution containment and cleanup efforts, while the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Sidney Fire Chief Brett Mikkelsen noted that specialized fire protection equipment was utilized to protect nearby vessels during the incident.
