Halifax Ubisoft Workers Establish First North American Union

About 60 workers at Ubisoft Halifax have formed the company’s first North American union, joining CWA Canada after 74% of staff voted in favor. Senior server developer T.J. Gillis, concerned about AI’s impact and job security following studio closures, spearheaded the effort. CWA Canada president Carmel Smyth noted increased interest from other tech employees in unionizing. The union aims to secure workplace rights and influence future industry growth.
