U.S. beats Canada 4-1 on New Year’s Eve at world juniors

Danny Nelson scored the winning goal in the third period, with Trey Augustine making 38 saves as the United States defeated Canada 4-1 to secure Group A at the world junior hockey championship. Cole Hutson and Cole Eiserman contributed a goal and an assist each for the Americans, while Bradley Nadeau scored for Canada. Canada, aiming to bounce back from last year’s fifth-place finish, finished third in the group and will face the Czech Republic in the quarterfinals, while the U.S. will take on Switzerland.
