Two teachers from James Cardinal McGuigan Catholic High School in North York have been placed on leave as the Toronto Catholic District School Board investigates racist messages exchanged on social media, initially reported by a student. The messages included an anti-Black image and derogatory comments, prompting immediate action from the board, which is also providing support to affected students and staff. Charline Grant, executive director of Parents of Black Children, criticized the initial lack of action from the school’s administration and called for the teachers’ licenses to be revoked. She emphasized the need for accountability and urged against transferring teachers involved in such incidents to other schools.
