Peel Regional Police have successfully reduced 911 call wait times in 2024 by 92% through education campaigns and the implementation of Next Generation 911 technology, resulting in quicker connections with first responders during emergencies. This system, featuring the Automated Abandoned Call-Back system, has already addressed over 75,000 hang-up calls, ensuring residents receive the necessary help promptly. Peel Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah highlighted these efforts during a media conference, emphasizing the enhanced community safety achieved through faster emergency response times.
