Estonia redirects maritime traffic to prevent future incidents after Russia’s detention of the Green Admire oil tanker.
Russia has detained the Greek oil tanker Green Admire, which was navigating a previously established route through Russian waters after leaving Estonia’s Sillamae port. In response, Estonia will now redirect maritime traffic exclusively through its waters to avoid similar incidents, as emphasized by Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna, who noted Russia’s unpredictable behavior and informed NATO allies. This incident follows a recent attempt by the Estonian navy to intercept a tanker from a Russian “shadow fleet,” which led to airspace violations by Russia.
