Poilievre to Address Conservatives in Calgary

Final preparations were underway at the BMO Centre in Calgary for the 2026 Conservative Party of Canada convention, where leader Pierre Poilievre will address party members ahead of a pivotal leadership review. Poilievre aims to secure support following a challenging year marked by the party’s decline in polling and his own electoral loss. As he navigates the influence of U.S. President Donald Trump and domestic issues, he must rally his base while presenting a strategy to compete against new Liberal leader Mark Carney. Poilievre’s speech is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET.
