Patrick Lutts Jr., a fugitive for 27 years, has agreed to waive extradition to Florida, where he faces manslaughter charges for a 1998 DUI crash that killed teenagers Nancy Lopez and Darvin Javier DeJesus-Taboada. After living under the alias Pat Lighthelp in Toronto, he was arrested following a tip-off. Lutts admitted in an affidavit that fleeing was a mistake and is scheduled to appear in Ontario Superior Court on January 15. If extradited, he plans to challenge the Florida court’s jurisdiction.
