Passing Gretzky doesn’t automatically make Ovechkin NHL’s best scorer

Alexander Ovechkin is on the verge of becoming the most prolific goal-scorer in hockey history, surpassing Wayne Gretzky. However, in order to fully appreciate history, one must also acknowledge the remarkable goal-scoring careers of Mike Bossy and Mario Lemieux, who achieved impressive feats in fewer games played. While Ovechkin’s achievements are noteworthy, the legacies of Bossy and Lemieux should not be forgotten in discussions of all-time great scorers.
