‘Painfully thin’ toddler, 2, ‘murdered by grandparents in house of misery’

A two-year-old boy, Ethan Ives-Griffiths, died in August 2021 after being subjected to severe neglect and abuse by his grandparents, Michael and Kerry Ives, who are currently on trial for murder. Prosecutors allege that Ethan’s time with them was filled with ‘casual brutality,’ leading to his fatal injuries, which included severe head trauma and multiple bruises. Shannon Ives, Ethan’s mother, is also on trial for failing to protect her son, with evidence showing her awareness of the abusive environment and her parents’ violent behavior towards him.
