A recent study by Samsara reveals that over half of Canada’s most dangerous winter roads are in Ontario, with Erieau Road topping the list due to high lake-effect snow risks and a crash rate six times higher than other locations. The analysis, using fleet vehicle data from 2022 to 2025, identifies factors like wildlife, weather, and urban congestion as contributors to accidents. Highway 401 and other major highways also feature on the danger list. Experts emphasize the need for cautious driving, especially during the winter months when one-third of crashes occur.
