Ontario launches border-strengthening ‘Operation Deterrence’

Ontario is increasing security along its border with the U.S. in response to tariff threats from president-elect Donald Trump, with 200 OPP officers focusing on border patrols using various vehicles and equipment. Premier Doug Ford emphasized the need for a coordinated effort, Operation Deterrence, to crack down on illegal crossings and trafficking. The federal government has announced measures to secure the border, but Ontario has not received additional funding for the new initiatives.
