Canadian investment pioneer James O’Donnell, aged 88, passed away on May 20 after battling dementia. Founder of O’Donnell Investment Management and former president of Mackenzie Financial, he was recognized for introducing the Deferred Sales Charge, promoting long-term investing. O’Donnell was also known for his philanthropic efforts, notably through the O’Donnell Challenge for Charity, which supported numerous Canadian youth and rehabilitation charities, and he was inducted into the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame in 2009.
