The City of Calgary has announced nine new projects as part of its downtown office conversion program, aiming to create nearly 1,000 homes and raising the total to 21 projects. These conversions, which include eight residential spaces and one hostel, are designed to address high office vacancy rates, currently at 30%. The Downtown Calgary Development Incentive Program supports these efforts, with a goal of repurposing six million square feet of vacant office space by 2031. Mayor Jeromy Farkas emphasized the initiative’s role in transforming downtown into a vibrant mixed-use area.
