Eric Michaud reminisces about his family’s amusing encounter with Azizi, a male lion at Moncton’s Magnetic Hill Zoo, who once sprayed them with urine. After 15 years of visiting, Michaud and his family were saddened to learn of Azizi’s euthanasia at age 18 due to health issues like arthritis and scoliosis. Zoo director Selina Cowman emphasized the emotional impact on staff and the focus on caring for Azizi’s companion, Amara, who remains healthy. Visitors, including Roslyn Sambles, also expressed their grief over Azizi’s loss, recalling his gentle nature and bond with Amara.
