Holidaymakers at a Hawke’s Bay beach witnessed a waterspout forming amidst stormy weather, prompting excitement among onlookers. Waimārama resident Sarah Curd captured a video of the phenomenon, which appeared between Waimārama Beach and Te Motu-o-Kura/Bare Island around 8:30 am. Alerted by a neighbor, Curd and her family rushed to the beach in their pajamas to observe the waterspout, which moved swiftly towards Waimārama township but ultimately dissipated before reaching the shore.
