A fishing trip in midwinter ended in tragedy when Tēvita Heimuli Moeakiola drowned after his boat capsized in choppy seas; only two of the three men made it to shore. Coroner Rachael Schmidt-McCleave’s findings revealed that Moeakiola, 51, was not wearing a lifejacket, which contributed to his accidental drowning near Bucklands Beach in East Auckland.
