Auckland track closure affects Western and Southern train schedules

Auckland trains are back on schedule following overnight repairs to faulty work by contractors in the Parnell rail tunnel. Initially, Auckland Transport had planned to use rail replacement buses due to disruptions on the Southern and Western lines. However, after successful testing and remedial work, KiwiRail confirmed that the tunnel track is now clear for normal train operations. KiwiRail’s chief metro officer emphasized that closing the tunnel was a necessary safety measure for commuters.
