A McDonald’s and a Popeyes are closing in Fresno. One won’t reopen

In Fresno, while new locally owned coffee shops and a Mexican restaurant are opening, two fast-food chains are facing closures. The Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen at First Street and McKinley Avenue has permanently closed, with its equipment removed and the building listed for rent, while a busy McDonald’s on Kings Canyon Road will close for remodeling in June, reopening in August, affecting 105 employees temporarily. Currently, Popeyes still operates four other locations in Fresno.
