Scientists have discovered what may be the world’s oldest fossilized predator vomit, dating back nearly 290 million years, at the Bromacker site in Germany. This regurgitalite, the earliest confirmed example from a fully land-based ecosystem, contains bones from at least three different animals, including a small reptile and a larger herbivore, indicating predator-prey relationships. The vomit is attributed to a large predator, likely an early relative of mammals like Dimetrodon. This find provides rare insights into ancient ecosystems and feeding behaviors before the age of dinosaurs.
