A Saskatoon mother, Cass Thiesen, is sharing her daughter Clarke’s story to support children with cancer after Clarke’s death from leukemia at age six. Diagnosed at two, Clarke faced extensive treatments with remarkable positivity, even asking for gifts for her brother instead of herself. Inspired by her spirit, family friend Tracy Kondratiuk wrote the children’s book Clarke’s Big, Brave Heart, which aims to help families discuss cancer and raise funds for the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital and the Forever Clarke Foundation.
