ICE goes public with a new report on Canadian man who died in custody

Johnny Noviello, a Canadian who entered the U.S. legally in 1988 and became a permanent resident in 1991, was arrested by ICE in 2025 on a removability charge following a 2023 conviction for drug trafficking and racketeering. He died in custody in Miami in June 2025, with health concerns reported, including hypertension and depression, after he refused medical evaluations and showed signs of neglect.
