Kingston Program Supports Human Trafficking Survivors
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

At least 75% of human trafficking survivors referred to Victim Services of Kingston and Frontenac had previously sought support, prompting staff to address the issue of re-traumatization. This led to the creation of EMBER, an empowerment-based response launched in September to provide comprehensive support. With over 200 victims identified last year, many being Indigenous and vulnerable, the program aims to fill gaps that traffickers exploit. By fostering independence and mentorship, EMBER seeks to help survivors heal and break free from cycles of trauma.
