International student from India killed in B.C.

Gurkirat Singh Manocha, a 25-year-old international student from Ujjain, India, was fatally injured during an altercation at the Charlie Lake boat ramp near Fort St. John, B.C., on March 13. Despite life-saving efforts, he succumbed to his injuries. The North District Major Crimes Unit is investigating the incident, which involves multiple individuals. Manocha’s former school in India expressed condolences, and the Indian government is coordinating his last rites.
