Governor General in Hospital, Misses Remembrance Day Ceremony

Governor General Mary Simon will miss the National Remembrance Day Ceremony in Ottawa due to a respiratory virus but is recovering in the hospital. Supreme Court Chief Justice Richard Wagner will attend on her behalf, alongside National Silver Cross Mother Nancy Payne, who lost her son in Afghanistan. Prime Minister Mark Carney and his wife will also participate, with both expected to lay wreaths at the National War Memorial. The ceremony, hosted by the Royal Canadian Legion, will include the national anthem, a moment of silence, and a wreath-laying event.
