Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECC) has revamped its weather alert system to enhance clarity for Canadians through a new colour-coded framework: yellow for moderate hazards, orange for severe risks, and red for life-threatening conditions. This modernization aligns with global best practices and aims to better communicate the expected impact of extreme weather events. Alerts will be issued based on the severity and potential consequences of weather hazards, using an “Alert Colour Matrix” to assess risks.
