A Kelowna family has been reunited with their dog, Daisy, after she survived a rollover accident and went missing for four days. Dearah Jordan and her three-year-old mini Australian shepherd, Daisy, were involved in the crash on Highway 33 while returning from a lake trip. After the accident, Jordan immediately searched for Daisy but was taken to the hospital for injuries. Meanwhile, volunteers, including members of the Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR), launched a search for the missing dog after hearing about the incident. Daisy was eventually found in the vehicle of another driver involved in the crash, where she had sought refuge. Jordan expressed immense relief upon reuniting with Daisy, who was found healthy but tired after her ordeal.

Why It Matters

This incident highlights the bond between pets and their owners, showcasing the community’s response in emergency situations. Pet loss after accidents is a common concern, prompting community efforts to locate missing animals. Organizations like COSAR often assist in searches for missing persons, but this case illustrates the depth of community involvement when pets are involved. The story also reflects the growing trend of using social media to mobilize support and resources during emergencies, as seen in the Facebook post that spurred the search for Daisy.
