Disney+ has canceled its planned reboot of Holes, which was intended as a fresh take on Louis Sachar’s novel, after producing a pilot and assembling a creative team. The reimagined series featured Shay Rudolph as Hayley, a girl in a detention camp with a hidden agenda, and was set in a post-apocalyptic future near buried Las Vegas. Despite the ambition behind the project, it did not meet Disney+’s selective standards for original programming. The original book and 2003 film remain the definitive versions of the story.
