Report: Young Man Gained 20kg and Died After Care Home Admission

A 20-year-old man with Prader-Willi syndrome gained 20kg within six months of being placed in a care home and subsequently died. The genetic disorder causes cognitive impairment and an insatiable hunger, which led to multiple “food incidents,” including consuming all the milk in the residence. Additionally, he had “inappropriate access” to high-calorie foods, contributing to his rapid weight gain.
