This incident highlights a growing trend among transnational criminal organizations attempting to export U.S.-based marijuana to international markets, particularly in Europe and Africa, where it can yield significantly higher profits. The investigation is ongoing, with CBP noting an average of 1,571 pounds of drugs seized daily across U.S. ports last year.
