Calgary father dead, 5-year-old daughter missing in California

Investigators in California report that Yuji Hu, 39, from Calgary, died and his five-year-old daughter is missing after they were swept into the ocean by a six-meter wave at Garrapata State Beach. Hu’s wife managed to return to shore, while beachgoers and an off-duty park officer attempted to revive Hu before he was hospitalized, where he later died. An extensive search for the missing girl has been suspended, but the California State Parks will continue shoreline searches. The couple’s two-year-old child was unharmed in the incident.
