A British national was arrested in Lebanon on suspicion of spying for Israel after he was caught photographing the Ministry of Defence in Baabda, southeast of Beirut. Authorities discovered calls to Israel on his mobile phone, leading to his detention in a military prison for 12 days before his release. The arrest coincides with increased Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon, which have resulted in numerous casualties amid rising tensions following a year of relative calm since the ceasefire with Hezbollah. Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has called for international support to address the escalating conflict.
