Backlot HFX revives queer nightlife on Gottingen Street

A new queer bar named Backlot HFX is set to open later this month in Halifax at 2103 Gottingen St., reviving the area’s rich LGBTQ+ history. Owned by Michael Gouthro, the two-storey venue aims to be inclusive, offering drinks, pool, and dancing, with plans for drag shows and musical performances in the future. Backlot HFX joins Rumours Lounge & Cabaret and Stardust Bar + Kitchen as recent additions to the city’s queer nightlife, addressing the community’s need for more dedicated spaces.
