ICE Protest at GardaWorld Montreal Headquarters Results in Arrest

On February 13, 2026, approximately 1,000 protesters gathered in Montreal to oppose the province’s investments in GardaWorld, a security firm involved with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) contracts. Tensions escalated when some demonstrators threw ice at police, prompting a pepper spray response and at least one arrest. Protesters, including members of Québec solidaire and Amnesty International, criticized the use of public funds for companies linked to ICE’s controversial practices. Organizers plan to petition against further public investment in GardaWorld, emphasizing solidarity with affected communities.
