The Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) announced that Air Transat pilots have voted overwhelmingly to authorize a strike, giving the union the power to declare one as early as December 10. Air Transat emphasized that this is a standard step in the collective bargaining process, and operations will continue normally as negotiations, which began in January, aim for a mutually satisfactory agreement. The union seeks improved job security, working conditions, and compensation, asserting that they do not wish to strike but want a fair contract reflective of current industry standards. ALPA chair Bradley Small urged management to negotiate seriously to avoid impacting customers’ travel plans.
