Jack Smith Subpoenaed for Testimony Before House Committee

Republican Rep. Jim Jordan subpoenaed former special counsel Jack Smith for a closed-door deposition on December 17 as part of the House Judiciary Committee’s investigation into Smith’s prosecutions of President Trump. Smith’s lawyer stated he would comply with the subpoena but expressed disappointment that Jordan rejected Smith’s offer for a public hearing. Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin accused Republicans of attempting to undermine Smith’s credibility while claiming their investigations into Trump were politically motivated. Trump, who has faced over 40 federal charges in two cases, continues to label Smith’s probes as “witch hunts.”
