DND requests U.S. military support for $400M space project

The Department of National Defence (DND) is initiating a new Canadian Forces space project, potentially costing up to $400 million, and has reached out to the U.S. Space Systems Command for support. The Space Command and Control (Space C2) system aims to gather space data for military operations and is expected to be operational by 2031. Despite Prime Minister Mark Carney’s push to favor Canadian firms, DND is currently collaborating with U.S. entities for preliminary research. A formal request for information is anticipated in 2026.
