Sudan’s Foreign Minister, Mohi El-Din Salem, emphasized that all terms of the Jeddah agreement must be fulfilled before any ceasefire can be reached with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The agreement, established in May 2023 after conflict erupted between the army and RSF, included commitments to protect civilians and the RSF’s withdrawal from civilian areas, which remains unfulfilled. Salem insisted on the RSF’s withdrawal from cities and the lifting of sieges, particularly in regions facing severe humanitarian crises. Currently, the RSF controls five states in Darfur, while the army governs most of the remaining states, including Khartoum.
