Colin Gillies Sentenced for Fraud

Colin Gillies, a 68-year-old former trusted associate of Stonecraft Construction, was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for defrauding the Kaitāia-based company out of $124,000 through fake invoices and hidden cash transactions. He was found guilty by a jury at the Kaikohe District Court earlier this year on five charges of fraud. Gillies had been with the company for several years, managing projects autonomously. His actions led to significant financial abuse of the small family business.
