The Stratolaunch Roc, the world’s largest operating plane at 117 meters, recently flew over California’s Mojave Desert, showcasing its capability to carry hypersonic test vehicles for US military technology. First rolled out in 2017 and tested in 2019, the Roc is designed to eventually launch rockets into space, supported by six 747 engines and a hefty payload capacity of 226,796 kilograms. Despite interest from notable figures like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, it was put up for sale at $400 million without a buyer. Stratolaunch’s president expressed optimism about upcoming hypersonic flight tests in 2023.
