Bremworth CEO Greg Smith believes that if a New Zealand wool carpet maker were to secure the Kainga Ora state housing contract, it would have “far-reaching” benefits for the country, supporting local wool growers and communities. After Kainga Ora initially ruled out wool carpets in social housing, the decision was reversed, allowing wool suppliers to bid, a move welcomed by Rural Communities Minister Mark Patterson and Federated Farmers. This decision opens up an opportunity for wool carpet providers to showcase the superiority of their natural product over synthetics in the procurement process.
